Operative Walls (OW) utilizes the SCCS principles applied to a real intervention in a residential backyard in St. Louis. OW combines the Undulated and the Faced Brick wall prototypes from the SCCS research into an undulated geometry, recycled brick and slate facing wall design, establishing a visual integration with the original construction materials of the surrounding context. Five equipped segmented walls will replace an existing wooden fence providing an active enclosure and a physical boundary for safety and privacy. The walls are designed with a geometry that results in a series of canopies protecting from the weather while activating the surface with a bench, herb planter, countertop surface, storage, and an integrated grill system with a chimney.
