Permeable Acoustic Wall

This prototype was built using six different units, each containing a central donut-like void with none, one, two, three or four connections respectively. This resulted in maze-like configurations on the surface of the wall. In order to obtain voids that run through the wall, molds on both sides of the wall were connected. This study used urethane rubber molds cast around original pieces milled with CNC on MDF blocks. An intrinsic characteristic of this study is the intricate nature of the resulting surface configuration which provides acoustic properties to the wall.
